Moss Side & Hulme Community Development Trust is a registered charity serving Moss Side, Hulme and neighbouring communities. Established in 1989, the Trust supports community-led regeneration and helps local people access opportunities that can improve their lives.
Its work includes employability support, training, business development, advice and the management of Moss Side & Hulme Business Park. This practical, long-term commitment makes the Trust a natural community partner for GTR.
Through this relationship, Golding Touch Radio can connect more closely with residents, voluntary groups, local businesses and emerging talent. It strengthens our ability to share useful information, highlight opportunities and bring the real voices of the community to the airwaves.
Aurora Lounge
Aurora Lounge was created by the community trust from a simple but powerful idea: to provide a soup kitchen and a welcoming place where local people could sit down, enjoy food and drink, spend time together and feel part of their community.
The initiative began with a particular focus on local elders. Each Monday, a group of elders uses the space for gentle exercise and is then provided with a meal. What started with a small kitchen has since developed into a much more ambitious community venue, including a commercial kitchen designed to support high-quality food and hospitality.
Aurora has also grown into a flexible lounge, creative space and function room. It has already welcomed community gatherings and an engagement celebration, with a wedding among its forthcoming bookings. This allows the venue to bring people together for everyday connection as well as life's important occasions.
The food vision is strengthened through its work with Tropics and Chef Ricky, whose private catering experience has included cooking for footballers connected with Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. This brings professional culinary knowledge into a space that remains grounded in community care.
